NHL player coming back to Utah

Trevor Lewis of the National Hockey League’s Los Angeles Kings will return to his home state on Thursday, July 14, for Utah High School Hockey’s announcement of game venues for the USA Hockey High School National Championships (March 21-25, 2012).

Lewis, who played for the Brighton Bengals, will compete with the media and dignitaries in a hardest shot competition (with a speed gun) on the ice. Community leaders and others are invited to take a shot and see how they measure up against an NHL player.

The top high school hockey teams from around the country will travel to Utah to compete for the national championship. About 1,100 players, coaches, referees, tournament officials and fans will travel to Utah for the event, said Jeff Robbins, president and CEO of the Utah Sports Commission.

“This event not only brings economic benefit to Utah, but helps to keep the state’s Olympic venues viable, continuing Utah’s Olympic legacy efforts,” Robbins said.
