Welcome back to the NHL, Winnipeg

New logos for the Winnipeg Jets

More top-level hockey in Canada is a good thing. Canadians’ level of passion raises the intensity for the whole National Hockey League.

Thanks to a True North Sports and Entertainment buying the Atlanta Thrashers and moving them to Winnipeg, Canada now has seven of the 30 NHL franchises. They were renamed the Jets after the last NHL team to call Winnipeg home.

Not only are they bringing back the name, they gave the franchise a great new identity. While many graphic designers are panning it, I think the new logos look great. I love how it relates to the city’s history with the Royal Canadian Air Force, while providing something that would be cool for any hockey fan to wear in North America.
