Westminster women’s lacrosse beat Weber State, meets BYU on Friday

SALT LAKE CITY — The top-ranked Westminster College women’s lacrosse team cruised bast first-year program Weber State 20-2 in the Griffins’ first home game of the season.

Westminster is 6-0 for the second straight season.

Kaicee Beal scored five of the team’s school-record 20 goals in the game. Beal added on assist while attempting seven shots. WCLA Preseason Player of the Year, Chelsea Farrell, along with Sage Johnson and Jasmin Alves scored two goals apiece. Johnson added three assists to lead the team. Maggie HerrNecker led the team with four ground balls while five other came up with three ground balls.

Next Westminster will welcome BYU to Dumke Field for a game on Friday. BYU is ranked No. 8 in the WCLA DI poll and have a 3-0 all-time record against the Griffins. The game will begin at 5 p.m. and be broadcast live on Griffins TV.
