The Western States Hockey League team’s schedule is out. You can see it here. And the Mustangs’ roster is almost full.
Headlining the group are Ben Russell and Bobby Chamberlain of the Great Britain U18 National Team. The duo represented their country in the U18 IIHF World Championship last March.
“Our import signings this season are looking really strong,” said Ogden Assistant Coach David Imonti in a press release. “They will give us a good foundation to build from, and we are really excited to have them.”
Russell is a 5-foot-10-inch, 180-pound defensemen while Chamberlain is a 5-11, 165-pound forward.
Chamberlain joins a pair of Swedish players the Mustangs recently signed in a corps of import, top-notch forwards. Olle Vennstrom and Sebastion Rydstrom will be entering their first seasons in the WSHL after several years of competing at various junior levels in Sweden.
Along with their international acquisitions, the Mustangs have also re-signed defenseman Erik Fischer as well as forwards Alex Pizarro and Kody Rodriguez. On Monday, Ogden also added David Clements from the Notre Dame Hounds and Joe Hewitt of Michigan.
Seven players impressed the coaching staff enough during this month’s tryouts to make the team. They are: Anthony Arbulu (forward; San Francisco), Colby Atkinson (goaltender; Chicago), Zach Brannon (returning from last season’s team; forward; West Jordan), Richard Fithian (goaltender; Clinton, Mont.), Cory Myers (forward; Ebensburg, Pa.), Matic Ovsenar (forward; Slovenia), and Eryn Siracusa (forward; Orlando, Fla.).
