Westminster men’s lacrosse names recruiting class

SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster College men’s lacrosse team announced the recruiting class for the 2012 season today. Head coach Mason Goodhand has added nine student-athletes to the team for the upcoming season.

The class includes four from the state of Utah, two from Nevada and Colorado and the ninth coming from Maryland. Below is a brief description of each new student-athlete.

Elias Fairman (Sandy / Brighton HS) 6-1 — 190 — Midfield
Notes:  True two-way midfielder with a high lacrosse IQ
•       US Lacrosse HS All-American 2012
•       1st Team All State
•       Midfielder of the year (Utah) 2012
•       Two Time State Champion
•       Duel Sport Athlete (Varsity Football) – Tail Back and Def. Secondary
•       Enrolled in the Pre Med Program

Sean Arruabarrena (Fort Collins, Colo. / Fort Collins HS) — 5-8 — 170 — Attack
Notes:  Offensive QB with excellent vision, a strong handle and quick feet, can beat you off the dribble or finish efficiently inside
•       First Team All-Conference 2012
•       Honorable Mention All-State 2012
•       Four year starter (averaging 11 wins per season)
•       Lead Team in Points 2012
•       Environmental Sciences Major

Ben Tourek (Henderson, Nev. / Coronado HS) — 6-2 — 180 — Goalie
Notes:  Excellent poise and fearless on the pipe, strong high and low with notable outlet ability, good size with no wasted movement, proven leadership qualities with a strong defensive acumen

Trent Herbert (Salt Lake City / Seton Hill Univ) — 6-0 — 195 — DEF / LSM
Notes: Sophomore transfer has good feet and excellent hands, excels at getting the ball off the turf and quickly into transition, high level experience combined with a very necessary mean streak, Immediate Impact Player

Chris Fuoco (Salt Lake City / Judge Catholic) — 5-9 — 185 — DEF / LSM
Notes: Tireless worker with a High lacrosse IQ – has shown the ability to make those in the system better, tremendous patience and discipline, always a step ahead of the offense

Dominic Conti (Salt Lake City / Judge Catholic) — 5-8 — 165 — Midfield

Patrick O’Bryant (Castle Rock, Colo. / Douglas County HS) — 6-0 — 185 — Defense

Taylor Atchison (Las Vegas / Palo Verde) — 6-1 — 165 — Midfield

Notes:  Jack of all trades midfielder who will faceoff and run on both ends of the field – a true team first guy – this student-athlete will provide extra leadership from day 1 of the spring 2013 season
