BYU to host the championship game of the first ever rugby Varsity Cup

The Varsity Cup Collegiate Rugby Championship released the schedule of the end-of-year tournament this week. Despite being just three weeks into the spring season, the seeds (see bracket) were also announced.

The rugby 15s event kicks off with two regional tournaments to be held on April 20.

The East regional will be hosted by the United States Naval Academy at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Md. Notre Dame and California meet in the day’s first matchup with Dartmouth and Navy clashing in the second game.

The West regional will be held at UCLA’s North Athletic Field. Air Force and Utah meet first followed by the UCLA-BYU match.

The four winning teams advance to the semifinals on April 27, which will be hosted at the stadium of the higher-seeded team. The cup final will be held at BYU’s South Field on May 4.

Broadcast details will be announced later, the news release said.
