High school ultimate disc: Lone Peak rallies to win tournament

HIGHLAND — After 23 games on Saturday, two teams were left standing at the Lone Peak Invitational ultimate disc tournament: Lone Peak and Sky View.

Sky View, who came into the tournament ranked No. 2 nationally, sprinted out to a 5-2 lead. However, the hosts and defending champion Knights went on a 10-1 run, holding on to a 15-10 victory.

“It was a lot of fun, with a huge amount of exciting plays,” Lone Peak coach David Kroupa said in an email Monday.

Nate Olson led the No. 3 nationally ranked Knights in assists while Quinn Arnoldsen wowed the crowd with a diving catch for a score.

    And the Lone Peak A and B teams will also be going on to compete in the Spaghetti Westerns tournament in San Francisco, California this upcoming week. Lone Peak A is expected to win 1st.
