Former Utes football player invited to USA Rugby training camp

BY HUGH BROWN

The University of Utah’s John Cullen was invited to attend the Eagles’ training camp in Glendale, Color.

Cullen, a former U football player, made his debut with the Ute rugby team this past season, playing number eight. At 6-foot-5 and 300 pounds, he was named to the second team All-Pac-12 as an offensive tackle.

The United States’ 15s are preparing for the Pacific Nations Cup and will open their summer play against Canada in Edmonton on Saturday. Twenty-four of the thirty players invited to the camp will make the Eagles’ travel squad. The U.S. will then take on Ireland in Houston on June 8.

Cullen was not among the 24 named to the squad on Wednesday.
