RACINE, Wisc. — Snow Canyon Girls Rugby Club added to the state’s national haul with a third-place finish in Division II of National Girls High School Championships last weekend.
The Warriors routed New York Rugby Club 48-5 on Sunday in the third place game. Lacie Nielson, Jenny King and Kayla Seaich were named players of the game on the team’s website.
Snow Canyon, which took second at the state tournament, won its first game at nationals in dramatic fashion, defeating Saint Josephs Academy (Ohio) 12-11 on penalty kicks. Alexis Mild and Janel Prince led the Warriors in that game. They lost 10-5 in the semifinals to Armstrong (Minn.). SC’s top players were Madi Yates and Myra Auble.
Yates, Auble and Prince were all named to the All-Tournament Team by USA Junior All-American coach Danielle Miller.
