American Fork native and BYU standout named to rugby World Cup qualifier roster

MARIETTA, Ga. — American Fork native and current BYU rugby player Kyle Sumsion is on the roster for the United State men’s national rugby team’s World Cup qualifier with Uruguay.

The Eagles will play the South Americans on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Fifth Third Bank Stadium at Kennesaw State University. The winner will go the the 2015 Rugby World Cup in England as Americas 2 in Pool B with South Africa, Samoa, Scotland, and the Asia 1 qualifier. The two teams played to a 27-27 draw in the first leg last week. Sumsion played as substitute in the match.

If the Eagles lose, they will enter the Repechage tournament, which would mean at least two more legs before seeding in RWC 2015’s Pool A (Australia, England, Wales, and the Oceania 1 qualifier).

The game will be televised on Universal Sports and will be streamed.
